Public Speaking

Public speaking is an art of persuasion which includes building confidence to face crowds, and a structure to deliver convincing and empathic speeches. Beyond the discipline of debating, self-expression and persuasion are powerful tools in general for any social, academic, or professional setting. Our public speaking programs aim to build students’ confidence when taking the stage by introducing them to classic rhetorical techniques, the fundamentals of scriptwriting, and strategies to sustain audience engagement. By the end of the course, students will possess the necessary skills to compose and deliver fluent and substantive
speeches across various prompts, topics, and scenarios, ensuring that when they speak, they are indeed heard.

What is public speaking all about?
Communication is the backbone of any society, allowing people to develop connections, influence decisions and push for change. In the working world, public speaking is definitely a vital skill to have. While some people are naturally good at public speaking, others tend to be a little scared of speaking in front of a huge crowd. Public speaking classes will help to develop better communication skills, increase one’s self-esteem, and develop persuasion skills.

What students will gain?
Overcome fear and inhibitions of speaking before an audience while participating in a variety of speaking situations such as elevator pitches, impromptu speeches and persuasive speaking. Our program will develop a student’s confidence and creativity in their thinking, writing and speaking. Through this course, students will develop essential skills in their education path, by becoming a more confident communicator in speech.

STEM Program

To succeed in this new information-based and highly advanced technological society, students need to develop their capabilities in academic disciplines such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to emerge as well-rounded and relevant youths with more opportunities to contribute to society. Well-structured STEM education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators.

The Global Citizen Education Group’s STEM Program aims to make Math and Science both fun and interesting, helping students to do much more than just learn. It actively engages students in authentic and challenging STEM learning experiences, having activities that show how real-life implications of STEM can pull together the ideas presented in school. This creates learning environments that foster innovation and creativity, and provide opportunities to see how concepts relate to life. By exposing students to STEM and giving them opportunities to explore STEM-related concepts, we can nurture students’ critical and creative thinking, information and communication technology capability and personal and social capability.

Innovation Program

Students today need to learn how to understand systems and solve problems. In school, every question has a right answer and students are supposed to study to know what that answer is. But in the workplace, the important problems don’t have clear answers.

The Global Citizenship Education Innovation Program can help students develop the problem solving and inventive skills needed to tackle problems like that. It fosters skills like teamwork, communication and exploration with a focus on personalized education, development of self-esteem, and cultivation of learning and life skills. Through interaction with innovation-mentors from tertiary institutions and other organisations, students are exposed to knowledge and experiences beyond the classroom. It teaches them to think critically about existing problems and be creative in coming up with new solutions. The Global Citizen Education Group seeks to use technology to empower students to become lifelong learners who are agents of change and prepare students for the challenges of tomorrow in a 21st century world.
